The Company currently has an opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to assist the Finance Manager with a variety of daily accounting operations, to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for the U.S. subsidiary.  Additional responsibilities include support with fixed assets, cost accounting, utilization, controls and compliance, monthly close, reconciliations, ad hoc and pro forma reporting, variance analyses, capital expenditures and allocations. 

 

Inventory and Fixed Assets

  • Leads in the planning and execution of monthly inventory counts at multiple locations primarily in Texas. Provides accurate data of stock levels and forecast by territory to Purchasing.
  • Conducts monthly inventory audit of stock in warehouses and at customer locations.
  • Manages and ensures the proper booking and booking out of stock in timely manner.
  • Managing FIFO system of inventory
  • Keeps up to date with BOMs and ensures all items are booked out.
  • Identifies, researches and resolves discrepancies between FIFO and stock count.
  • Recommends new processes which solve gaps or improve current processes.
  • Personal Property Reporting
  • Reviews and provides assessment of Company’s Capitalization policies utilizing knowledge of GAAP.
  • Manages the addition, proper valuation and disposal of all fixed assets including the units added to the businesses rental fleet.
  • Provide regular updates on Capex spending requirements and actual Capex spend vs budget.

Compliance and Tax

  • Regularly reviews the Company’s filings to ensure the business is in compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Files accurate and timely reports to all regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor and Manage Sales Tax Reporting through Avalara as well as Nexus reviews.
  • Maintains local, state and federal tax compliance and support future growth into new US jurisdictions.
  • Files timely and accurate sales tax reports keeping up to date with requirements.

 

Month End and Financial Reporting

  • Prepares journal entries and maintains general ledger accounts; reconciles fixed assets and general ledger accounts for month-end close.
  • Conducts a monthly review of the Company’s balance sheet.
  • Analyzes balance sheet accounts for completeness and accuracy; assists other Accounting staff members in reconciliations of balance sheet accounts where necessary.
  • Creates and updates monthly reports to be used for commission and bonus compensation calculations.
  • Assists the Finance Manager with the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances based on sound accounting procedures and controls.
  • Assists the Finance Manager in the creation of monthly financial statements by territory.
  • Assists in the creation of year end audit files.

 

Other

  • Researches customer transactions as required to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Assists in investigating and resolving customer and vendor inquiries.
  • Assists with transactional accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed.
  • Acts as a Mentor to other Accounting staff.
  • Performs ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the development and managing of internal controls.
  • Research & analyses corporate financial operations to ensure the business is running efficiently.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline or equivalent required.
  • Five to seven years of previous accounting experience to include equipment rental and fixed assets accounting is required.
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge and application of accounting principles, practices, and procedures (US GAAP) required.
  • Previous accounting software and ERP systems experience required; previous experience with Access Dimensions, Syrinx (Point of Rental) and Avalara preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup, etc); Microsoft Office (Word and Powerpoint) and Outlook.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion.
  • Strong math aptitude, analytical skills and high attention to details required.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
  • Strong time management, organization and problem-solving skills required. Ability to work under pressure and with shifting priorities is a must.

Candidates must currently have a work authorization that would permit them to work in the US; no visa sponsorship.

 

Compensation:

Competitive base salary up to $80,000 per year depending on experience.
